A fierce Mexican brooch with a pre-Columbian motif. Two Aztec warriors in magnificent headdresses brandish weapons (a club and an axe) while trampling a snake underfoot. The round brooch is crafted in sterling silver overlay with bright high points and oxidized low points. Engraved details bring the scene to life. The brooch finishes with a rollover clasp and bale. The back is marked "Sterling Mexico." Circa 1950.
